31 January 2016
Sonia Burton is a fifty year old woman who works at the Gala Bingo Hall in Ashington. It was just like any other day when she went to work a little bit early. At work, Sonia suffered a heart attack and collapsed, as her boss rushed to her aid and performed CPR until the paramedics arrived. The paramedics worked on Sonia, who was without a pulse for 56 minutes. Sonia started breathing again while on her way to hospital and was soon afterwards admitted to Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital, where she underwent life saving surgery.
Sonia said: “The only thing I remember is my late husband coming to me and saying ‘it’s not your time, Sonia, go back to the children.’ Then I woke up in hospital.”
“It’s strange to think I was technically dead for an hour.” added Sonia.
“Every day I think how incredible it is that I’m still here.” she said. “I don’t take anything for granted.”

Burch pleaded with them not to kill him. “When they came in, he said, ‘don’t do it bro. Don’t do it in front of my kids. Please don’t do it in front of my kids and old lady,'” said his girlfriend, Jasmine Hendricks. “He said I’ll give you my bank card.” Burch tossed his pants to the robbers who rummaged through it looking for his wallet. When they didn’t find his wallet, they shot and killed him before running away. Police have not yet identified the three killers and are seeking the public’s help.
